Expanding Access to Capital Act
March 8, 2024 | H.R. 2799
This legislation would roll back SEC registration and disclosure requirements for investors, companies, advisers, and brokers. The Expanding Access to Capital Act takes a deregulatory approach to legislating equity compensation, increasing access to private markets, or otherwise expanding access to the capital markets of the United States. It significantly weakens investor protections by removing disclosures and legal protections that investors rely on to hold businesses accountable.
The "Gig Worker Equity Compensation” section preempts state laws enacted to ensure working people in the state have standard rights and protections on the job. By preempting state laws on employment, the legislation undermines access to critical safety net benefits, and minimum wage and overtime protections.
This is Bad for working people.
